A hidden gem in the heart of Westminster, our historic, Grade II-listed venue offers a selection of meeting rooms for every occasion. The Mary Slessor Room has a capacity of up to 15 guests in a theatre-style layout and can be adapted to suit your event requirements. The Mary Slessor Room is an intimate meeting space best suited to training sessions, small workshops, and interviews.
The Mary Slessor Room offers a neutral and intimate meeting setting, with a display screen included in room hire and two large windows providing plenty of natural lighting.
This space is named after the Scottish missionary worker Mary Slessor, who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the citizens of Calabar, Nigeria. In 1876 she left for her mission to Nigeria, and during her time spent among the people of Calabar, she saw the injustices in how women and children were treated within society. Mary realised she had to break some of the moulds, including the local superstition around twins, which believed that when twins were born, one of them was possessed by an evil spirit.
Slessor saved hundreds of twins who had been abandoned, and her legacy became one of mercy rather than religious conversion, making her the first of a new missionary kind.
This space can accommodate a maximum of 15 guests, making it perfect for smaller meetings. It can be used for the following:
