Mary Sumner was a pioneering woman who founded the Mother’s Union charity in 1876 from her home in Hampshire. Her vision was to unite all mothers bringing up children in faith. The Mary Sumner Room honours her memory and showcases a portrait of the Foundress of Mothers’ Union.
The Mary Sumner Room is one of two period rooms and holds special historical significance as the home of the Mothers’ Union Royal Charter, granted by King George V in 1926, alongside their official Coat of Arms which was granted the following year in 1927. These features add to the room’s unique character and shows the century-long heritage of Mary Sumner House.

The Mary Sumner Room can accommodate a maximum of 24 people in a boardroom layout.
The room is equipped with a wall-mounted display screen and sound bar connected via an HDMI cable, which is included in the venue hire fee. Additionally, a portable Logitech video conferencing systems is available for hire, compatible with MSTeams, Zoom, Google Meet, WebEx, Cisco and other software providers. Our team are able to help you with any technical set-up to ensure you have everything you need for your meeting.
